SALVADOR G. VALLADARES


BORN: May 5, 1917 in Chisos Texas (aka Terlingua). Salvador died on October 23, 2012 in Whittier, California.

RESIDENCE: Last residence was 1334 Mulberry Drive, Apt #19, Whittier, CA 90605 (562-693-4599). He is buried in California.

EARLY CHILDHOOD: Salvador was born in Chisos Texas, He is the fourth of ten children born to Rosalio Valladares and Maria Bonifacia Godina . His father, Rosalio died while he was still a teenager. It was during this time that the family moved to a farm about 6 miles outside of Knox City, TX. Eventually moving into town around 1940. He spent most of his growing years in the Rhineland/Knox City, Texas area, working as a farm laborer with the family.

EDUCATION: Salvador did not have a formal education. He was taught to read and write by his mother.

MILITARY: Salvador served in the National Guard and the US Army (38368019) during WWII. He was assigned to G2 (intelligence). He was released from active duty at the end of the war

CAREER: Salvador worked in the cotton fields as a young mann. He also worked clearing mesquite from pastures to convert then into fields for agriculture. After moving to Scottsbluff, he worked managing warehouses for the crops grown in the area. He also managed a potato warehouse in Milliken, Colorado during the potato harvest. After moving to Whittier, California he worked for Curtis Matthews as a manage until his retirement. After retirement, he kept busy mowing yards with his wife.

OTHER ACTIVITIES: As a young man Salvador used to play the guitar.

MARRIAGE: Salvador met Luz Lozoya when he went to work in Scottsbluff, Nebraska after his release from the military. He married Luz in October 14, 1946 in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He and Luz divorced in 1964 He later met and married Socorro Urena in California in 1972
